Digital Journalism- Reflection

After watching all the presentations I do feel we could of added more and taken a different approach. I am still happy though with the things I learned. Seeing some flaws it did frustrate me. At the beginning of our presentation our slide with the heading moved to fast. Faster than how it did on my laptop somehow but fast enough that you didn't see what our Digital Journalism piece was on. I'm guessing people had to fill in the pieces once they heard our voiceover.

I would of changed the voiceover on the quiz and had it more so as a game. It's easier to look back now and wish you could change things but that was our own fault changing that part so last minute. I did feel this mission was harder han the others.

I will admit yes I could of given alot more to this mission than what I did and thats my own downfall but it's a learning curve and I know that ive the potential if I push myself. The tools given by Shaun had been extremly useful and helped map out the presentation with alot more ease but more imagination could of been used on our part. Not my favourite mission but my favourite lesson. Hard work shows.

Digital Journalism- Presentation

This assignemt did not go to plan. For the presentation we had some ideas floating around. Starting with history over the years talking about the most horrifying times to then doing a 2019 rewind. Going through music, movies and viral sensations.

I thought the 2019 Rewind would be a great idea. Getting inspiration from the Google trends. This is a website where you can type in 2018 for example and any country and it will give you all the trends in the country over the year. It gave me a great idea for the Digital Journalism. A video of some of the best moments in 2019 and just in time for the new year.

We came up with the idea of doing a timeline of all the music hits of 2019 that way still using tools Shaun wanted us to use. This is where it got difficult. We were unsure of the best approach for the next part. We wanted to show the best movies of 2019 and wanted to do it in a quiz format. The presentation is a video presentnation and i was afraid it would look awful having it slow down in some bits and having an awkward silence. We agreed on a voiceover on this section yet none of use were too happy on the idea either but decided to change this part of the assignemnt very last minute.

A 2019 viral trend had been Tik Tok and this we knew we had to jump into ourselves and thought it would be something fun to add to the video.Tik Tok has been huge in 2019 with alot of known celebrities making quite an income on being Tik Tok famous.

The editing process wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Having experience using premier pro after the second mission. Voiceovers was a new challenge. It's something i had never done before and because I had recorded them on my phone I had to transfer them to my ipad, add to dropbox and then get them onto premier pro. That is something i found quite difficult but managed. Eventually the presentation came together and i was happy with the end result.

Third Mission- Digital Journalism

Today i've been putting some thought into the best way to approach Digital Journalism. I have no knowledge on it first hand,  even though it's something I would see daily on the internet on news pop up's. Digital Journalism is a form of journalism where the content is published online as apposed to on newspapers or broadcasted.

For this mission we have to pick a topic and discuss it in a Digital Journalism format. This sentence alone makes my head spin. The role of a Journalism is to story-tell and to stay as close to the truth as possible. Picking a topic we want it to tell a story and also for it to be interest for our viewers to see. Online journalism has to grasp the viewers attention. Unlike news papers it's about colours used, different fonts, what pictures are shown.

Shaun has given us tools that he wants us to use in the presentnation and i'm unsure if like everything else he wants to see our use of using these tools mainly or if our main thing is to tell a story and having some small snippets of the tools that we used.

I can find this being one of the harder missions we have come across yet.

Youtubing- Reflection

I've learned a lot throughout this mission and it was filled with its challenges. For a start seeing how this was my first time ever editing any videos, I found my first experience to be a good one. Using Premiere Pro and having the initial tutorials on how to use the app made everything so much easier. I will definetely be using it in the future and hopefully have it as a skill I can develop on further.

Once I decided on doing Youtube videos on something i actually enjoy it made the whole experienec a lot easier also. After myself and Leslie did our videos and comparing the analyitics,  it showed me that I was right with our approach in discussing at the beginning what our target market would be . Having a target market sets the tone for the videos. It changed how you talk in the videos, what you talk about and even the editing styles. Something I never properly realized before.

This taught me alot and gave me a huge boost of confidence. To be able to make content and to put it on a network that I myself watch daily is an amazing feeling. I have a video on Youtube. It might seem small to some people or even the fact it only got 90 views, but that is something big to me. Espically with it being such a big platform.

I want this whole experience to be the start of me growing my confidence with making content and pushing myself using different tools to make this happen. I thought the editing process would be my downfall and it was the opposite. This was a mission I had alot more interest in more so than the first, but that made it that more daunting becaus I wanted to prove to myself that bit more that I could do it if I put my mind to it.
