Youtubing - Presentation

Myself and Leslie are working together for this assignment and we were discussing whats the best plan of action. What way do we want to go about this. I learnt from the last mission its not the history or a load of writing that's the main aim of this assignment. It's  putting the practical work in and seeing what we learn first hand. Plan of Action.

First: What do we want to do? Myself and Leslie have talked about making our own seperate channels on You-tube and uploading videos and comparing them. See the different responses to the videos. This way were both getting to experience editing. I had the idea of using two different types of editing tools aswel so we get a different experience and that way we can document it and compare which one would was the best.

Second: What type of videos? Who are our target audience? Myself and Leslie both being girls it makes it a bit bias but realistically our target audience would be girls and within and general age bracket similar to ours,Between 18-24. I'm 22 and Leslie 21 so were in the middle of that bracket.
Realistically if we want an audience of girls to watch our videos we've to appeal to them. Make-up and Vlog's are a popular trend for girls at the moment and something myself and leslie both enjoy so i think that's something were going to go forward with. I's something we both have an interest in aswel and something people can hopefully see in the videos too. Realistically people aren't going to want to see us do something on the History of Ireland. I'm a culchie from Longford. Nobody wants to hear me talk about that espically our target audience.

Third: We are splitting the work load in order to make it fair. I will edit the vlog and Leslie will edit the make-up video. Like I said before it'll give us a chance to experience editing first hand ourselves. I can definately see it being useful in the future. It's something i've wanted to give a go for a while but didn't have the guts.

Let's hope this all goes to plan!

Second Mission- Youtubing

Today i've been putting some thought into what i'd like to do for my second mission. I'm thinking along the lines of Youtubing. I've never really had the guts to do it and it is something I have wanted to start up for a while but afraid I would end up just making a fool of myself.

Of course I had some reservations, I was afriad that people would make fun of me for putting myself out there on such a public platform. I decided to go ahead with it though because it was on a topic that I consume a lot of content on and one that i'm passionate about so that part felt natural. It felt like I was contributing to a community of like minded people that are all working to be the best they can be.

The impression that I initially had was that Youtubing was only for people across the Atlantic and that it was this thing that was seperated from the real world. None of my friends or family have ever tried it so I was unsure how to start. So many questions ran through my head. Things like what equipment should I use, how long should the videos be, what type of content should be included.

I looked towards some of the more famous people already on Youtbe for inspiration, people like James Charles,  Jeffery Star, Dani Mantsutti and some others. I tried to analyse their content to see what takeaways I could get. I was careful though not to steal ideas, I was looking for inspiration over all else.

So I guess i'm officially a Youtuber in the making, trying to look at such a huge industry with so many moving parts is scary and hard not to become overwhelmed. I'm determined that if I just focus on what I am doing and do it for the right reasons that I will be successful. I am thinking of making a content calander for myself to set a schedule for myself to make sure I keep to what i say and really give this a good go. I want to be constantly looking forward and doing my best because I think people will connect with that, just an everyday girl taking a leap.

Animated Gif's - Reflection

The Presentation's done and dusted and there's a few things i learnt come the end of it.

First: The main focus of these assignments isn't about the history or showing that in our presentations it's more so about the hands on practical work and how we adapt to it. Presentation's are not about having all the facts written up on the screen and reading it out word by word. It's about having the ground work. What we learnt. What we did to make this assignemnt Animated Gif's come to life.

Second: As a TEAM how do we get our end product what was our step by step. Showing the process and how we all managed it together. Splitting the assignemnt into different segments and them putting it all together is not important or the aim. Working together. Helping eachother in area's some people in the team might not fully understand. working together to get the best end result.

Third: What did we learn? What did we find difficult? We're not being expected to have everything perfect but good enough that we show that we made a hand's on effort as apposed to just typing a bunch of words onto a document.

It's simple to google a bunch of facts and find out the origin. Learing how to make Animated Gif's and the tools and sortware needed to be used thats where the real challenge is. That is how we really found out about this topic. My only regret is not giving more time to the actual making of the gif's.

This is all definately things ill be bringing forward onto the next mission!

Animated Gif's -Presentation

Here I am diving in to the world of Animated Gif's. It's definately different to anything i've done before.Trying to figure out what way to do this presentation and the best way to go about it. I had some idea's to take on a more hands on approach rather than just collecting knowledge, but it's hard to always know the best approach and still wanting to make sure you  get all the right things into a presentation.

First: What do we want people to think when they see this presentation? Are we going to have a lot of writing and telling them the in's and out's of Animated Gif's. Even though a presentation should never be just mainly writing,  or are we going to be practical and show what we've personally done and how we've found Animated Gif's. This was a big question what was the right way in doing this.

Second: What way do we split the work? Do we just give different chunks between the three of us and just focus on our own or we are all more involved in each-others work? Personally i've never worked in many group projects before and i find in group projects there are so may different opinions and voices it's hard at times to always agree on the best way of doing things, but thats the point of a group assignement.

Third: Looking at shaun's webpage we got inspiration for the content. Looking at web pages suggested on Animated Gif's helped use to obtain some knowledge.

This is definately different to anything i've done before and it's always easier to do things yourself instead of working in a team. Espically when it's people who you don't know the best. We can do this though. Team-work and all that!
